uMatrix for Opera is a powerful, point-and-click, grid-based browser firewall extension designed to give advanced users full control over their privacy and security. Grid-Based Control: The extension provides a visual matrix representing different domains on the Y-axis and different types of data on the X-axis.
Granular Data Filtering: You can independently restrict or allow individual data classes, including Cookies, CSS, Images, Media, Scripts, Iframes (frames), and XHR (XMLHttpRequest).
Visual Color Coding: Red sections indicate blocked content, while green sections mean data is allowed to load.
Scoping Rules: You can apply rules globally (across all sites), at the domain level, or restrict changes strictly to the specific webpage you are viewing.

By default, uMatrix operates in a strict “block-all / allow-exceptionally” mode.
The Broken Web Experience: Because it completely blocks third-party scripts and assets out of the box, many modern websites will appear broken when you first visit them.
The Manual Fix: To fix a site, you must click the extension icon, review the grid, and manually click the top half of a cell to turn it green (allowed).
Alternative Mode: If the strict default is too tedious, you can toggle it with a single click into “allow-all / block-exceptionally” mode. This behaves like a standard adblocker where everything loads unless it hits a known blocklist. The Learning Curve
